Staten IslandAdvertisements
Staten Island (conterminous with Richmond County) is mainly situated on the island of the same name, but also includes several small uninhabited islands. It is the least populated and most suburban of New York City's five boroughs, and is the only one not to share a land border with another borough. Cultural appeal includes museums, theaters, fine arts and Staten Island Zoo, while the Staten Island Ferry linking the borough to Manhattan is another popular tourist attraction, offering views of the Statue of Liberty. Staten Island has New York City's largest area of parkland, within which the F.D.R. Boardwalk (the world's fourth longest) stretches 2½ miles (4.02km). Rising from the borough's extensive green belt is Todt Hill, whose 410ft (125m) summit is New York City's highest point. |
