Rockefeller PlazaAdvertisements
Situated between Fifth and Seventh Avenues in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, Rockefeller Plaza is a complex of commercial buildings that was initially constructed by the Rockefeller family. The Plaza's construction was the largest privately-funded project of its type in the modern era, leaving its mastermind John D Rockefeller seriously financially extended upon its completion. Built in the Art Deco style, the beautiful Plaza complex's centre-piece is the internationally famous Radio City Music Hall, in its day the largest and most luxurious theatre in the world. The stylish and original architecture, alongside beautiful examples of public art, that comprise the Plaza have drawn many tourists and aficionados alike over the years. The Plaza also plays host to Christie's, the world's biggest auction house, and was a one-time home of media giants RCA - the whole complex was nicknamed 'Radio City' after its most famous former residents. |
