Queens (conterminous with Queens County) is New York City's largest borough in terms of area, embracing the western part of Long Island plus a few smaller islands.

Queens' economy is based on tourism, trade and industry, and the borough is home to numerous central business districts, New York City's two major airports, Queens Center (America's most profitable per-square-foot mall) and the U.S. Open tennis tournament.

However, with its many uniquely identifiable neighborhoods, Queens is widely considered one of New York City's more suburban boroughs, and is home to the country's second largest Sikh population and one of its main concentrations of Indian-Americans. Being the nation's most diverse county, Queens also has restaurants from all cultures.

Queens was established in 1683 and was named after Catherine of Braganza, wife of Charles II.
