Lincoln CenterAdvertisements
Home to a number of New York's finest cultural institutions - New York City Ballet, the New York Philharmonic Orchestra to name but two - the various buildings that comprise the Lincoln Center make it the largest arts complex in the world. Constructed as part of an urban renewal project in the 1960's under the auspices of John D Rockefeller Jr, the Lincoln Center certainly benefitted from its illustrious patron's fundraising abilities to become the successful entity it is today. Its buildings are all stunning examples of modern high-rise architecture, and within them a visitor can take in a variety of classical music, opera, drama, art and film in one of the Lincoln Center's many theatres. Always growing, the Center is now embarking on a major redevelopment initiative that will create new pedestrian areas and help accessibility, as well as carrying out aesthetic improvements to the buildings themselves. |
