Museum at the Fashion Institute of TechnologyAdvertisements
New York's Fashion Institute of Technology, or FIT, is a branch of the University of New York and has made a name for itself as one of America's finest colleges of Art and Design, as well as offering courses in Business and Technology. The FIT's attached museum houses a rich and varied calendar comprising anything from student fashion shows to the work of professional couture photographers - all aspects of the world of fashion are covered here. The museum's permanent collection is considered by those in the know as one of the most significant of its kind in the world - the costume department alone holds fifty thousand garments spanning the last three centuries, and the nearby textiles department displays examples going back as far as the fifth century to the present day. With its three active galleries onsite and the constant influx of work from students of FIT, at any given time the museum will have an exhibition to please anybody. |
